Huntsman Out, Colbert In

We seem to agree that the Republican primary has been more entertainment than serious news. Jon Huntsman is now officially out, perhaps because he could not withstand being outpolled by Steven Colbert. For those that missed it here is Colbert's announcement.

  1. I hope that Colbert's shenanigans succeed in pointing up the ridiculousness of the Super PACs and corporate personhood. Dory

  2. Dory mentioned the return of Bill Moyers this week.

Did you perchance listen to Bill Moyers on PBS yesterday afternoon? He interviewed two authors of a book about the disappearance of the middle class. They gave statistics as to the extreme disparity between the ultra-rich and the rest of us, and pointed out that a democracy cannot prevail under these circumstances. In order to be elected, our representatives must cater to this group, and so the rich are essentially in charge.. The poor (and what used to be the middle class) have basically no say. (I forget the name of the book and the two authors.)

See Moyers and Company at http://billmoyers.com/

An addition to the Moyers talk. A clever sign which read: "The system's not broken; it's fixed!"
